Position Construction Controller

As a Construction Controller, you will report to the owner of the company.  You will provide leadership and management of the accounting department of 4 - 5 employees.   You will oversee the accounting activities of Company and provide financial  reporting in a timely accurate manner, progress reports, and managing departmental financial targets based off previous history, new data and variable job cost burdens.  



  • Provides leadership and direction to the accounting team and oversees full cycle accounting operations, financial reports, analysis and management reports as it relates to the company and its subsiduaries
  • Analyze and reconcile balance sheet, income statements and general ledger
  • Provide financial analysis assistance and reporting information to divisional managers
  • Monitor relationships with banks and assist with cashflow management and holdbacks 
  • Reviews project based revenue/cost accounting process in order to maximize revenues per project , assisting with variance analysis when required
  • Assist with the annual budget process and forecast analysis
  • Continuously examines and refines budgeting and other financial processes, procedures and controls
  • Ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to work with SAGE 300  or an ERP system and Microsoft Office Products (Excel)
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications: In order to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the necessary qualifications:

Experience & Skill Requirements:

  • Professional accounting designation such as  CPA, CA, CMA or CGA is required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a progressively responsible financial position
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices, internal controls and management accounting concepts, strategic, financial and business planning cycles; ability to interpret and apply financial and accounting policies and procedures; ability to learn and apply new concepts and procedure
  • Ability to manage financial risk and forecast cash flows; demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheet software including the ability to develop formulas
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills in the timely coordination, scheduling and compiling of information and instituting procedures and practices to keep track of assignments, deadlines and corporate submissions
  • Ability to effectively manage and mentor employees demonstrating above average leadership and listening skills.
