As a CFO, you will provide leadership and management of the accounting department. Reporting to the board of Directors, you will be responsible for the development of the company management strategy, establishing business plans and contribute to the development of the organization's strategic and financial goals.  Strong supervisory skills in order to mentor and groom direct reports and  staff.



  • Provides leadership and direction to the accounting team and oversees full cycle accounting operations, financial reports, analysis and management reports as it related to the company and its subsiduaries
  • Direct, monitor and coordinate capital investments, leasing and cash-flow planning
  • Plan and monitor the current and future corporate income tax liability to minimize exposure and ensure compliance with the requiprements of the tax authorities
  • Prepare investment recommendations for short-term surplus cash within the investment guidelines
  • Maintain and develop procedures for routinely reporting relevant financial and performance information to each level of management.
  • Monitor all legal matters pertaining to company and subsidiaries and monitor all forms of insurance coverage and related insurance claims
  • Coordinate, supervise and prepare reports for internal audits, and monthly consolidated financial reports
  • Monitor relationships with banks and ensure proper set-up of accounts to facilitate the operations
  • Assist CEO with mergers and acquisitions and carries out financial analysis and due  diligence
  • Monitors the overall financial health of the company using established metrics
  • Enforces financial discipline, guidelines and controls
  • Provides recommendations to the President on major financial decisions and carries out financial policy decisions
  • Continuously examines and refines budgeting and other financial processes, procedures and controls
  • Ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as required

Information Systems:

  • Maximizes the capabilities of financial and management information systems; responsible for financial accounting and project management software
  • Manages the relationship with IT suppliers and maintains in-depth knowledge of current technology, equipment and associated costs to minimize the investment required to meet required service levels

General Management:

  • Supervises direct reports; conducts quarterly performance reviews, ensures appropriate performance management and recommends compensation within established compensation policies and guidelines; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Provides leadership and training with respect to financial and IT matters
  • Provides a high level of customer service internally and externally
  • Models the work ethic, culture and values of Company
  •  Continuously source best practices and actively seek opportunities to improve business efficiency and effectiveness

Qualifications: In order to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the necessary qualifications:

Experience & Skill Requirements:

  • Professional accounting designation such as CA, CMA or CGA is required
  • Minimum 5- 10 years experience in a progressively responsible financial position; public practice  experience a definite asset
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices, internal controls and management accounting concepts, strategic, financial and business planning cycles; ability to interpret and apply financial and accounting policies and procedures; ability to learn and apply new concepts and procedures
  • Interpersonal skills such as: conflict management, active listening, providing clear messages to others
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with divergent groups; ability to develop, implement, and effectively communicate policies and procedures 
  • Ability to manage financial risk and forecast cash flows; demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheet software including the ability to develop formulae
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, relate and compare data from different sources, identify underlying issues, problems and their cross-impacts in a detailed and precise manner; ability to use quantitative data in a logical, analytical manner to solve problems
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills in the timely coordination, scheduling and compiling of information and instituting procedures and practices to keep track of assignments, deadlines and corporate submissions
  • Highly disciplined, with the ability to deliver to a variety of commitments and deadlines despite altering time frames and schedule
